Frequently asked questions

Installing xShelf, stocking your machine, and how claims work.

What is xShelf?

xShelf is a Chrome extension that adds a small vending-machine store to X (Twitter) profiles. Creators stock it with digital freebies — prompts, share links, coupon codes — and followers see the machine right in the xShelf side panel while browsing x.com. No link-in-bio detours: your store lives on your profile and your posts.

How do I list my own products?

Install the extension, sign in with X, and visit your own profile — xShelf automatically opens an empty machine for you. Click Edit products, add your first item, and it goes live on your shelf immediately. Layout, background and product placement are all managed from the side panel, no dashboard needed.

How do followers claim an item?

When someone with xShelf installed browses a creator's profile or a post that has products attached, the machine appears in the side panel, automatically showing the products on sale. They pick an item, complete the required action on X — like, repost or reply — then come back and hit Complete task. xShelf verifies the action and the item drops into your backpack.

What claim requirements can I set on a product?

Each product can be a free claim (no requirement) or require one or more of: like, repost, reply (optionally with a keyword template). You can also set start/end dates so a drop opens and closes on schedule.

Can I share a text link in my product?

Creators attach a share text to each product — a download page, a Drive folder, a coupon code, anything they want to share. After a successful claim the fan sees the link with a one-tap copy button. xShelf deliberately renders it as plain text plus copy: it never auto-posts or auto-DMs anything on your behalf.

Where do claimed items go?

Into the backpack inside the xShelf panel. Every entry shows the item, the quantity, when it was claimed and which creator it came from, so fans can collect drops from many creators in one place.

Does xShelf ever like, post or follow on my behalf?

Never — this is a hard product rule. Every like, repost, reply and follow is performed manually by the user on x.com. xShelf only reads the resulting page state to verify that a task was completed. We also never access your private data through the X API.

Is my X account and data safe?

X access tokens are stored only on xShelf's server, never inside the browser extension. The side panel and page scripts hold no credentials and make no direct network calls — everything is relayed through the extension's service worker with a short-lived session. Logging out revokes the session everywhere; your x.com login is never touched.

A creator I like has an empty vending machine. Can I nudge the creator?

Yes. When you browse a creator who hasn't stocked anything yet, xShelf shows a Remind the creator to stock button. It opens a pre-filled X post (written by you, sent by you) — xShelf never sends it automatically, and you can nudge the same creator at most once per day.

How much does xShelf cost?

Basic features are free: list products and claim gifts. For the paid subscription benefits currently offered, see the pricing section.
